This is all wonderful stuff (to me) as the contents of these superb buildings were connected to the mains.

No offence REF but I prefer mine, they are way more atmospheric!
Photographed in 1983. Must admit I dont like the wooden cladding either and where is that brick building gone?

So can I ask 'What did they do'? Or should I say 'How did they do what they did'?
I dont know whether this is related or not, but at Exeter Airport is a metal red and white chequered (now rust colour) caravan in a hedge row, with two rooms, one is a control room with control panel having holes for osscilloscopes etc and the other is more of a cabinet with access from outside. There is an War or the Worlds alien's head coming out of the top of the cabinet and inside is this contraption - see below:

The DF cabin from Grafton Underwood, the same as the lower part of the Lakenheath one as seen in the first photograph in this thread, still exists in a private collection not far from the base.
NP, your photos show a Radar Trailer, I'll see if I can find my references to identify the precise type.
All the best,
PB
Yes I thought it might be GCA but what is the alien structure? When confirmed I will get this shifted to a new thread.
The control panels match this photo of the CR/DF system:
Paul what sort of date is that model/type.
