Haydock Park

Haydock Park Race course is used regularly nowadays by aircraft on race days and the US Army made use of parts of the race course during WW2 ALSO Haydock Lodge was used as a hospital though I am not aware of any aviation use.

During the war, Haydock Park was also used as a camp for Italian POWs, my father was a civilian Policeman stationed in the local Ashton in Makerfield Station, and occasionaly went there when they had a problem. There was also RAF Haydock a couple of miles away, and even though I lived very close, I knew little of what they did there.

According to RAFWEB. Haydock Park was aka Blackbrook and was a post WWII comms centre.
