Does anyone happen to know what is going on with the old communal site for Bottisham in the centre of the village?

A friend from the area took a load of photos and showed me within the last few days and one of the buildings looks to be freshly repainted in a manner suggesting it may be about to be used as a small museum or something similar?

Smile Hello from a 361st FG fan trying to start a new museum at Bottisham

    Hi,

I'm a great 8th AF fan and have been involved with the 361st Fg ever since their reunion in Britain in 1995.

In 2001 I wrote & designed their website www.361fg.com and have been the webmaster ever since.

I love trudging round old airfields and have spent many happy hours at Duxford, Bottisham, Little Walden, Bassingbourn and Ridgewell.

I am currently involved with trying to open a new museum dedicated to the 361st FG (and the RAF) in one of the old airfield buildings in Bottisham village.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

    Very best regards

    Jason

    Hello Jason,
I had a regular trailer drop on Bottisham airfield many years ago. Never got around to seeing what was left then let alone now. Feel free to post a few pics of how things are at Bottisham building wise.
Welcome to the forum and good luck with the museum project!

    Hello Dennis,

There isn't too much left in the way of buildings or indeed very little that would leave to believe there had been an airfield there.

On the airfield itself there are only a couple of buildings left - one is a smokery/deli. In the village there are about 6 buildings left on the old communal site - one of which are using + some air raid shelters.

Will try and post some pics soon.

    Cheers

    Jason
