    Default Some Memorials from France/Flanders

    Here are some Rich!

Liverpool Scottish memorial, Bellewaarde ridge Ypres (Ieper)

    Vancouver Corner St Juliaan

    Menin Gate

The saddest Memorial I know: Execution Post, Poperinghe

I realise these may be slightly outside of the remit of the site but they are astonishing monuments none the less.

    Thanks Mick!

As you said, the last one is very sad.

    Lovely photos though.

Just come back from a trip to Cambrai, Reims and Verdun..... The Verdun battlefield is the most depressing place I've ever been to. The bones of 130000 French and Germans lie here.
Me and my brother sank a few drinks after doing this battlefield. This is the Ossuary at Douamont.

    RIP

    cheers,

    Mick

I'm not suprised you sank a few drinks after visiting here mate.

A brilliant atmospheric pic as well. The grey moody skies loom over that breathtaking building quite fittingly i think.

    Cheers,
    Steve
