Last few of Thomas Nugent's photos
Thank you goes out to Thomas Nugent for letting me post these photos on the forum.
Caslav is already upgraded to NATO standard with overruns at both ends...
If you look at Pardubice for example, you will see that the arrester barriers are not on the RWY but on the grass as there are no overruns build yet !
The Eastblock airfields didn't have overruns...
I wonder if they will build the overruns at Pardubice? Is there an advantage of a tarmac overrun instead of just using the grass?
REF,
If the soil is hard, there is no problem at all
I heard that Pardubice will have overruns too !
Idem for all other military Eastblock Air Bases that will be maintained.
They have to comply to basic NATO standards
Caslav doesn't have standard NATO approach but RWY32 has an ALS-1 (Cat.1) and RWY 14 a MALS...
Caslav is civil & military now... we can expect a Cat.3 approach later for RWY32 ?
Interesting info, thanks Olympusman.

Tam, thy are some brilliant photos, great to see something different. Love the colour schemes on the Grippen (First photo) and the F-16 (the one after the Grippen). Great stuff.
