According to my log book it was Chipmunk WP837 and the date was 19 August 1992.
This is the only photo I can find of the day so far, I remember flying over Duxford on the flight.

In the last couple of days the gates and rails/tracks that allowed Aircraft from the Airfield to cross Newmarket Road/A1303 to access the North Works have now been removed.
Quite a shame as i have never seen another set like them.
I am guilty of not taking photos ,as to me they have just always been there and just assumed they always would be as the only gain would be a extension to the airfield property of a few inches.
Still available on Google earth street view.
The only photo i have seen of them in use was of a RAF B-17 crossing the road , but where i saw this i do not know.....Cambridge Evening News maybe?
A quick google reveals Marshalls wanted to have a even bigger crossing during the 1970`s http://plan.scambs.gov.uk/swiftlg/Me...280-409792.pdf

They used to hide here,in front of a then new wooden fence and behind a new mesh fence:

Above circa 2007 shows the run of the rails.
