Excellent pictures, they appear same as GAF stations.
End of the 60ties, different NATO HAS were presented to their members.
Belgium choosed the same type as Germany and Italy (possibly also Greece ?)
Here some pictures
General view :
-------------
Inside view :
Notice the winch (fixed above the back door) to pull the aircraft inside the shelter
The back door is only opened when the aircraft leaves the shelter with engine.
-------------
Doors :
We do not have sliding doors !
-------------
Back side :
This is the back of the shelter with a 90° wall to split the engine blast.
This part is different from de German shelters but never seen a picture of it ?
Quid italian and others ?
Any info welcome !
-------------
Thanks to share your pictures of other NATO HAS types

Paul, the back is complete different for the GAF ones... a big box with a splitter inside !
If you Google, you'll see that clearly
Great Pictures Olympusman, nice to see the NATO airfields making an appearance. Keep up the good work, lets see some more.
Which airfield were these taken on?
Inside pictures were taken during a Patrimony Day (happens ones a year) at Brustem Air Base (closed since the 90ties...), the others taken during the 60th Anniversary Florennes Air Base events (still active AB that was hosting the TLP until recently).
I will keep up the (good) work if I see similar info from other NATO country forum members... hurry up guys, give me support !
By the way, the UK is also NATO ! ! ! (LOL)
This GAF example looks fairly similar to me Mr Olumpusman!. Taken at Pferdsfled Germany.
Paul
Interesting picture as their ones are covered with earth and you clearly see a concrete wall ajustment... when did you take this picture ?
I checked via google and the Italians are the same as ours.
Will have to look but I think that other countries adopted this type of HAS too ?
Not sure exactly around 1999, but they were all similar on that base with the concrete deflector, the covering of earth and turf and the abutment to allow the earth to stay in place (like and L or E shed). Only one had doors that worked though.
Paul,
See why I was convinced the back of the German shelters were different...
The answer was behind me in a 1/72 scale diorama box from Revell !
Overall excellent but the back needs serious enquiry....

Ah so Mr Olympusman, your main source of important information comes from a model instruction leaflet! That is equivellent to me basing my control tower book on the Airfix control tower model!! Not good - try again!
