here is a poor image of the old tower


have you got the C 130 photo that got stuck there in 1990s

That tower was repaced again by a green wooden contraption that was replaced by the current one.

Did'nt get a pic but remember it very well !!

The De Havilland club used Chetwynd a few years back as a stopover, it was good to see Chipmunks, T Moths and lots more use the airfield !!

The old tower looks like it is the body removed from a Karrier Bantam Mk V Runway Control 'Caravan'.

Thats exactly what it is. Strange how this place has kept going over the years.

Transmitters will be removed shortly and good rumour that the tower will go soon as we have changed our operating system and the tower is no longer manned for night flying.

Im honestly suprised that it hasnt already.

Its too impotant too lose but its not manned during the day so there no need to man it at night. The chippie in Newport will loose at least a fiver a month now !!

Does that mean Stud 8 is no longer going to be used, as the tower is now not used, or is it going to be used as the location ?, by the way is that the chippy by the carpark???
