Dorval is the main Montreal facility, Mirabel is being run down, I think it is still used for freight, last charter flights stopped a few years back
the best I could do!

A mate of mine got posted to Goose back in 1990, he flew to Mirabel on a BA 747 but then had to get to Dorval for his flight to Goose. Why they didnt do to him what I did is beyond me. I flew to St Johns on Air Canada and then it was an Air Atlantic 737 via Deer Lake to Goose.
Could be worse there is a great account of Dorval in the early Transatlantic days in the 50's apparantly the bar was dry back then, would never happen in Quebec today ( I hope!!!)
Very Very wet Pierre Elliot Trudeau 2009

A bit from the EH project by NP and myself.
GrahamFerry Command came into existence on 20 July 1941 from the Atlantic Ferry Service. Prior to this date the task of transferring aircraft across the Atlantic had been in the hands of the civilian run Atlantic Ferry Organisation. The RAF now assumed responsibility and initially set up its HQ in central Montreal, before relocating to the airport at Dorval.
Three broad areas of aircraft operations were undertaken by the command:
Reception from US Army Air Corps to Eastern airfields prior to despatchOver 11,000 aircraft were delivered across the Ocean, most departing from airfields at Gander, Newfoundland, and Goose Bay, Labrador.
Transport from North America to the UK, (clearly long range types only)
Operation of other air routes from the USA as may be required occasionally.
think I posted this in the Dorval thread, but scince I cant work out how to link here it is again;
These hangars are in the same position as the ones in the b/w piture, have to think they may be original, any thoughts?
not nearly as good as the flash earth stuff, buts its mine !
There is somewhere in the passenger terminal a memorial dedicated to Ferry Command, but I have never been able to find it! However details can be found here http://www.cmp-cpm.forces.gc.ca/dhh-...g.asp?PID=7836
