We tend to have a lot of cover of a narrow range of airfields due to interests and locations of our members and I for one welcome any coverage those hundreds of 'fields which have not appeared on AiX.
So, keep 'em coming stevie.
This is not exactly the most exciting thread here on AiX i must admit but i thought it was important that the old airfield at Orston should be represented on here anyway (as they all should!!)
An apparently very busy all grass site used by nearby RAF Newton as a satellite airfield with Masters and Oxfords. Orston was unique in that it was only ever used by the one unit (No.16 FTS) for it's it's entire active life from July 1941 until 1st November 1945.
Unsuprisingly hardly anything remains (i doubt there was a hell of a lot here in the first place) -
One of two hardstandings that still exist -
Looking across the field to where the grass runways once where -
I did see a couple of wartime looking buildings standing but i wasn't entirely convinced they were airfield related.
Cheers,
Steve

Nice photos Stevie, I have driven past so many times but never stopped so its good to see a few photos of the old airfield - even if there isn't much to see!
Cheers chaps.
I wasn't expecting any replies to this thread if i'm totally honest when i posted it so thanks guys.
Completely agree Peter. Hopefully now the 'main' airfields have mostly now been covered here on AiX we should see some of the lesser known sites appearing in the future. I just think they all should all get a bit of coverage in my opinion.

Someone told me recently, or did I read it in a local history book, can't remember; anyway in the lead up to either D-Day or Arnhem, locals remember seeing mass parachute drops over Orston and Newton.
Anyone else heard this?
