Ah!... memories of another life...
Not JP's and Jags when I was there (circa 1971) - But Piston Provosts - Sea Hawks - Hunters and Gnats. (amongst other things)
There was a Javelin wing that the instructor would bash with an axe to create a hole for us to repair... A Hunter cockpit for cabin conditioning training.....
The Piston Provosts were all chopped up... The Hunters were unbelievably sold to the Swiss and flew again (Yikes)... and in came a hangar full of Sea Vixens....
Had the airfield been frozen in my time it would now be quite a respectable museum with everything (really) from a Spitfire to a Vulcan.
