1975! Doesn't time fly. I remember the news item.
I have often wondered if modern F1 racing drivers could cope with the cars tha Graham Hill raced in the 60s.

I think that a lot of us remember that PNK judging by that article on one of the threads about our general age group. Can't even remember which one it was either
But I can remember driving past Graham Hill Way in Bourne, Lincolnshire for many years. This is on an Industrial Estate on the outskirts of the town, I think they built or repaired racing cars there.
They built BRM racing cars in Bourne, for whom Graham Hill drove from 1960 to 1966, including his first world championship in 1962. They tested the cars at nearby Folkingham airfield. There is a well respected racing car restoration business (Hall & Hall, formerly Hall & Fowler) on Graham Hill Way who specialise in BRMs amongst other things. - see attached link

They also used to operate from the old BRM engine test house on Fokingham airfield.

I was lucky enough to talk to him back in the late 60s when an event was held at Snetterton to mark the opening of a new F2 specification. He was driving for Lotus in their green and yellow colours, The event was won by Jochen Rindt. Totally not previously announce the PA system said Graham Hill will be driving a mark 1 Lotus Cortina in the saloon car race. All i can say is WOW and WOW again. He came of the chicane at the beginning of the home straight a right hand turn with his front wheel about 6 inches off the ground, and when the pit board told him to slow down he responded with 2 fingers That race is actually on
the Pathe News site and I can see myself standing on top of the wall over the pits.
Another one that I go past every monday. This is off City Road in the Tilehurst area of Reading.
