I'll remove them if asked, but by my adding up it makes them over 50 years old!!!Originally Posted by PNK
Hmmm perhaps we should be putting a comment by the pic saying that the photo was formerly Crown Copyright but is now out of copyright due to the 50 year rule (or something like that). At least then it shows we care.
Now, whenever I've asked the MoD about crown copywrite images, they have told me I can use it if it has been released (which it has if I / we have a copy of it), the only thing I have to do is credit it as 'Crown Copywrite'.
Nothing about 50yr or other rules.
How come Portreath is popular now then![]()
Well I have had photos of mine copied by the Crown & they never asked my permeation!

Wasn't this also the Nancekuke chemical agent manufacturing plant?
It was Nancekuke, a sub-div (if that's the correct term) of Porton Down. There have been digs around the site to check for contaminated items. I'm not sure if anything has been found.
The Runway looks to be in very good condition, I know Portreath had its own Fire Section until recently - does anyone know if there were / have been any movements?
There is 'remedial' work being carried out.
It is now also the home of Devon & Cornwall Fire Brigade vehicle training, and houses a fire training excercise area.
It seemed to be inferred that there hadn't been any moves since 203 left Mawgan. I do remember one of the aircrew saying that Portreaths runway was better than Mawgans at the time!
