Having been into Warrington this morning, called in a RAF Burtonwood on my way home.
ot into conversation with the Security Guard on duty at the gate, tells me that all the stuuf stored in the two main J Type Hangars on A & E Site has been removed, and the demolition contractors will start the demolition this month. THe three remaing L type hangars at the far end of the airfield will be demolished next year, and so ends yet more of our history and heritage.
I was told that English Partnership, the owners of the site are not very accomodating when it comes to seeking permission to photograph the hangars, however you can get some decent shots of the J type hangars from off Burtonwood Lane, without going onto English Partnerships land, if anybod is interested.
Have maanaged to scan in three pen line plan drawings of Burtonwood dated 1940 / 1945 and 1955, showing the developement of the buildings and runways
Ist one shows site and buildings 1940 Era.

The annex is usually the biggest give away externally, the K usually has very few windows and doors in the pic above you can see it has no windows in the annex.
In this picture of Pauls, The Annex of the J type at Oakington is full of windows
Most of the differences are internally
