Picture 13 looks to me as if it might have been the COs residence.
there were 4 of those CO type houses there a couple of years back, I cleared a garden at one just before It was knocked down
I Went inside one, a maintenence guy turned up as I was working there
Lovely inside & the heating was on
These photos have seen sent to me by Jamie Farrington and shows the demolition of the MT Section and Stores area around the water tower, its not know if the tower is staying or going at the moment - anyone have any further news?

That's a worrying development... you would have hoped that such a landmark would be protected wouldn't you!
From the look of it they do appear to be nibbling around the edges so with any luck the tower itself is safe. But who knows...
Sadly the tower is not safe, its currently being demolished as well. These photos from Jamie Farrington illustrate the state of the site as of a few days ago.

Status 1955:
4 PB / concrete buildings containing 2 surgeries and laboratory and providing beds for 179 RAF, 54 WRAF.
Two Nissens with beds for 286 RAF.
MT Section - brick / concrete for 5 vehicles, workshop with servicing pit.
Brick / concrete admin offices. Nissen lecture room and cinema.
75kW Mirrlees standby generator
Quarters for 15 single + 9 married officers, 3+1 NCOs, 83 + 41 airmen, 56 WAAF officers and 70 airwomen.
Catering facilities for three staff sittings and 500 patients
Those ward Nissens must have been big - 143 beds each!
That's a blow... is any of the rest of the hospital being redeveloped, or limited to this area?
Notice the standard "modern" method of tower demolition... build big pile of rubble out of surrounding buildings, drive plant up onto top of pile and nibble it down from the top. No artistry to demolition any more.
Fred Dibnah must be rotating in his grave...

I wonder if they'll find my wisdom teeth while they're clearing the site, some RAF dentist stole them while I was asleep there sometime in 1988.
Can anyone help with information regarding F/Sgt J Anderson(1573409) who was admitted to RAF Ely hospital 25/4/44.
He was the only survivor of Halifax LK789 MP-L shot down by an intruder and crashined near Welney,Norfolk.

Thanks
