Oatlands Hill(was Druids Lodge)

A place I have driven by a fair few times and often wondered about. Finding this Forum reignited that wonder. I had heard of an airfield of sorts behind the tree's to the right of the road heading into Salisbury on the A360 just before coming t Druids Lodge.

Oatlands Hill (SU095408 N51.09.47 W 01.52.4...in the angle between the A360 and the A303 ...used from 1941 till May 46 . Was intended as a satellite for Old Sarum. 41 OTU (1942/43)and later 43 OTU(1944) used the place.

Not sure if there are still any signs of it left now- back in the 80s there were a couple of Blister hangars still existing .

Are these the curved tin, open either side structures? If so I remember two of these one behind the other along the northern line of tree's. Thanks for the info.

As for Druids Lodge that was the First World War aerodrome of Lake Down. The water tower was the head of a narrow Gauge railway that linked to the Amesbury to Larkhill line and also linked with WW1 Stonehenge aerodrome and the WW1 horse isolation hospital at Fargo Plantation.
