Default Plaque dedicated to American Airmen killed in Burghill crash

    Hello all,

A Friend and I have been doing some research about the crash of a USAAF B-24H (serial 42-95238) on St Mary’s hospital in Burghill on the 18th of August 1944.

Ten American airmen lost their lives following the crash.

We have been campaigning for a plaque dedicated to them to be placed in Burghill church yard. The church is about 1mile from the crash site.

Here is the current plaque design: An engraved metal plaque (17x14 inches) attached to a polished stone wedge set in the ground, at the top of the church yard, overlooking the church and the cemetery.

We now have full permission from the local Vicar and the parish council.

I’ll keep you updated as we progress

    Jerome

Hi Jerome, thanks for that. The plaque looks good too.
