    Default Hello from A10694

Hi, I've been on a while, I'm at Little Neston (in Cheshire, not Merseyside !) on the Wirral. I'm from Goole (someone has to come from there), but escaped west. I've always been a member of Subterranea Brittanica, into underground stuff, but got interested in ww2 stuff as I live next to a bombing decoy on Burton Marsh, which was largely forgotten about, and next to a RAF Bombing Range, also forgotten about. I sometimes visit East Yorkshire, which explains some obscure posts from that region.

I've always been into aviation, used to live near Finningley (it was hard to escape the Vulcans there), sometimes spend a few hours at Manchester Airport, and work near Speke Airport in the old hanger, near to the old airport buildings. My Speke datacentre is built on the site of the old ww2 test / training catapult for the merchant ships.

I'm currently driving the NMR mad, getting all the aerial photos of the Merseyside Decoys, I specialise in the obscure items, and the people involved in the little mentioned or remembered jobs in ww2.

My main interest is currently in 19th century coal mines, Lancashire, Wirral, N. Wales and Buxton. There are several books that I must write sometime.

Belated welcome. I keep dropping back to you Dee Marsh bombing range post as it is the most comprehensive. I am looking into bombing ranges in the UK, as you say, one of those little mentioned aspects of aviation history. I am currently scribbling away but it is a lot harder than I thought - too many loose ends and incomplete stories.

Welcome back. I look forward to seeing the results of your research into other Cheshire/Lancs Merseyside Bombing Decoys.

I'm currently waiting for the post (Royal mail !). It should have the NMR aerial photos of the Burton marsh bombing range, and the Puddington Inner Marsh decoys. Will keep posted. I have some other Merseyside ones, but nothing too interesting. One shows the Ince Petroleum site being ploughed over in a photo.
