Globe Mill, Bolton, former RAF 68 M.U. Site.
This M.U. has personal memories for me, being born and brought up just outside of Bolton, I hadn't realised thesignificance of this building.
It was a Ground Equipment Depot in the Globe Hosiery Mill in Lowerbridgeman Street Bolton. Opened in May 1942 and disbanded in May 1946.
My late father was the Manager of this Mill in the 1960's and i use to have my lunch there, with him whilst studying at Bolton Tech' College, Manchester Rd, just round the corner.
Anyway, on with the visit, it also had a sub site at Suez Mills, Kearsley, near Farnworth. Sorry to say there is not a trace of this sub site left, the mills have all been flattened a new buildings built on the site. Here are afew photos.

Good pictures of an unrecorded site.
Another subsite was Kirkpatrick Mill, Hindley Green. Some documents refer to 68MU as Hindley Green - confusing to say the least.
Great structures the old mills, shame to see so many flattened. One of the many lesser known and recorded RAF sites so it's good to see that you have some record.
