    Default RAF Medmenham [Danesfield House]

Took these today at Danesfield House, Buckinghamshire. This is situated between Marlow and Henley-on-Thames.

The last photograph showing a Mosquito and Mustang flying over the House is in the main reception. The two before are in the side area from the main reception.

A few from the side desk area.

The chap at the reception told me that he was in the RAF during the late sixties early seventies. Started off at RAF Halton, served at Lyneham then Singapore.

I'll have to add my bit. In 1994 there was a 50th Anniversary Memorial event at nearby Wycombe Abbey school (otherwise known as Pinetree of course). Quite a number of American veterans attended including some WAC's, some of which also worked (and lived) at what was to become RAF Medmenham, or Danesfield, then known as Camp Danesfield. I was lucky enough to join them in the visit they made to Danesfield House. They showed us around and to where they worked inside the main building, and out into the extensive grounds. In one of these pictures they gave us is a stone fountain, and they were pleased that it was the same fountain. Obviously a number of photos ensued. None of their huts were there though, too much to ask. These American Army officers used to drive over to "Pinetree" for social evenings.

Interesting BBC bit about V-weapons and aerial photography, including Medmenham:

The Medmenham Collection is held at the Military Intelligence Museum at Chicksands. It is possible to visit the museum but only pre-arranged visits because it is on an active military site.
