Default Thor Sites - North Lincolnshire

Excuse my lazy post, but I have an urgent request.

Without trawling through all the posts here, does anyone have a definitive list of THOR sites within 20nm radius of RAF Binbrook please?

Or does a map exist? And I could then research from it.

    Cheers,

    Bish

Could I confirm with somebody that this information is correct:

RAF Hemswell was the headquarters for the 5 Lincolnshire Wing THOR dispersal sites at RAF Hemswell, RAF Bardney, RAF Caistor, RAF Coleby Grange and RAF Ludford Magna.

97 (SM) Sqn was based at RAF Hemswell, as well as the Wing HQ.

RAF Bardney was home to 106 (SM) Sqn from Jul 1959 - May 1963 with 3 Thor IRBM launchers.

From 1959 to 1963 Coleby Grange re-opened with 142 (SM) Sqn Thor IRBM unit and 3 launchers.

Between 1959 and 1963 Caistor was a Thor missile base for 3 Thor IRBM launchers of 269 (SM) Sqn

RAF Ludford Magna was home to 104(SM) Sqn with its three Thor IRBM launchers during the closing years of activity.

RAF Hemswell, Caistor, Ludford Magna, Coleby Grange, Bardney - give or take a few miles perhaps. Sturgate also had Thor (accommodation) connections. Hope this helps.

    Yes.

Except Ludford Magna too was operational 22 July 1959 to 24 May 1963. The same dates apply to all sites except RAF Hemswell, 1 December 1958. All Thor sites had three Launch Emplacements.

I can of course (unashamedly) recommend 'Project Emily - Thor IRBM and the RAF' for more information on the whole Thor program!

That is my intention, hopefully I will find pictures here of all the sites, then ask permission to repo them.

All will become apparent, as to why soon.
