I don't suppose Lettice or the other girls flew into Blidworth (SLG 35) by any chance?

thanks PJH, Stew pond is the illkle one to the north of the main lake in front of the abbey, as far as i remember there is only one building in that area by the old sewage works, it was set back against the hedge line by the tree avenue.....

The Stew Pond. I remember fishing a rather bedragled Moth out of that one August weekend!

I vaguely remember attending a DH Moth meet at the Abbey, must have been best part of 20 years ago I think.

I have fired off an email to the guys at the Woburn Heritage Centre to see if they can help with the location.

They are fantastic events. The Abbey & ancient deer park is an absolutely perfect place for watching Moths & tail draggers on the lawn. Here's a few I took at last years event -

This years event is on Sunday 17th August & I thoroughly recommend a visit.

    Cheers

    Default Woburn Park

    SPLIT FROM - http://www.airfieldinformationexchan...T-Marker-Stone

It says it closed in 1947 but haven't there been Moth Club-type events since then?

The DH Moth Club hold the excellent Moth Rally pretty much every year there.

    All,

Great Moth rally there last year....ask Stevie.

I am generally uninspired by this memorial.

Didn't Woburn have three different airstrips in its time. The latest being used for the Moth Rallies PJH mentioned. I'm sure there was an article in AR on this.

...& following on from my post above from last years event, here's a set of shots I took on the Saturday arrivals day at this years lovely Moth Rally at Woburn. Such a great venue. Over 135 Moth's & De-Haviland built types where expected but sadly strong winds prevented several of them turning up. There was still a big turn out including 11 Hornet Moths, the largest gathering of the type for many years -
