I'm sorry 207 squadron is going. I often stop at their memorial at Spilsby. It would be nice to think of them finding another role soon, but I'm not holding my breath.

[QUOTE=norwichpaul;6700]From this side the CT looks normal
From this side you think the architect was having a bad day!
Having spent four years at Linton, plus every other, other week at our RLG Elvington, Linton's VCR was built that way after the expansion period of moving from Watch Offices to Control Towers and it was done on a budget and raised a little higher so the local (aerodrome) controller could see the threshold of the secondary runway - but failed. Every time an aircraft started rolling on departure or rolled etc, we (Runway Controllers) clicked the Hadley box to inform the local controller that an aircraft has passed the RWC.
These married quarters were actually situated on the station, if you could pan the photo to the right, you will see the Sergeant's Mess.
The AMQ's to the left is where I used to live, first window seen was my kitchen - Grosvenor Square, behind the AMQ's to the right was the NAAFI shop.
The other AMQ's where located off base and about 1/2 mile up the road to Newton On Ouse, on Linton Woods lane.
Regret the only car park I knew off was in front of the Sgt's Mess, as for white rose close I have no idea.
I left Linton in 1984 on promotion.
I have done some research, embarrassing as it is, result White Rose Close was where my mate lived! Sorry all too long ago.
The close was just behind Grosvenor Square and to the left of our AMQ.
I have just google earthed it and Grosvenor Square does not exist any more, some new building is on the site! Gutted, so thanks for the link to the picture!
My son was born in York and it was his first house and learnt to walk in 29 Grosvenor Square!
