Hello Jenna,
Will check L-4,Norseman and Tiger Moth take off and landing distances. On shifts so please be patient.
I'm a bit of a newbie to aircraft so please correct me if this wrong.... from your figures we should be looking for a runway 480 yards in length (430+50), approximately 440mts or could the clear be at an angle or even a gradual u bend?
In Martin Bowman's book (pages 52/53) he has confirmed what you posted T-21, although he mentions the use of a Norseman or Grasshopper aircraft, is there any recorded documentation to back that up?
The book also confirms the construction of a bailey bridge across the Great Ouse to access Milton Earnest Hall from the runway, there is a photo which indicates it was directly to the south west of the hall.
Hello Jenna,

Thankyou.
L-4 Cub Landing Distance 290 ft Take off Distance 370 ft.
Tiger Moth Can operate safely off a 500Metre(1,500 ft) strip.
UC-64 Norseman Landing distance 1,300 ft Take off distance 1,645 ft.
UC-78 Bobcat Landing distance 675 ft Take off distance 1,450 ft.
These are from a Google search and are approximations give or take wind, slope of runway, obstructions. I am convinced that the larger aircraft only operated out of Twinwood for safety reasons. Unless proof of the larger runway at the Hall exists it is doubtful if the Tiger Moth and Austers of the RAF used it.
