    Default Ringinglow (Sheffield) Decoy etc

One of many decoys surrounding Sheffield was this one at SK276814.

It's marked on this map as a looped track on Burbage Moor.
    At ground level thus:

    A recent aerial oblique:

And how it looked sometime late 40s, alas the baskets etc have been cleared.

Now, the "etc" bit is going a bit off-topic, but at Lodge Moor (same map) SK279858 are the remains of an army camp of some kind. Lots of hut bases etc to see today at ground level

    less so from above

Finally, around SK255859 near Redmires res are the remains of WWI practice trenches

That's an excellent site, a picture of it even appears in Dobinson's book. I bought a decent aerial picture of it as well.

The camp at Redmires was a PoW camp.

I didn't doubt that a gyro had been found (it's a torpedo directional gyro) but perhaps my play on words should have spelled enigma with a capital E
