    The site of the old airfield in the Muscat area, in what is now Ruwi (the business district) circa 1984. A difficult airfield with mountains in all directions. The remnants of the strip can just be made out in the middle of the photo to the right of the isolated building-at that time it was being used for an outdoor vegetable & fruit market. Photo taken from a Royal Flight Puma on the way to Muscat Palace.

    The old airport in Jeddah went the same way! Overbuilt by expansion of the city.
