Hi sumter, there's quite a bit there now, the plaque that I've posted-up in the memorial thread had been there [somewhere] quite a time, so I was told. It eventually fell off the wall ! So a new one has been re-positioned under an archway outside.

Isnt Bawtry in Yorkshire? IIRC there is a house called number 1 Yorkshire in the village.

I wonder if the compass-cross is still there on one of the entrance steps, as shown on my post from 2008. Maybe they've replaced that well worn step.

bawtry is in south yorkshire aint it south of doncaster

Answering two posts in one:

Bawtry is located in the metropolitan borough of Doncaster on the border with Nottinghamshire, and is situated between Bircotes and Misson at the conjunction of the A614, A631 and A638 roads. The county boundary with Nottinghamshire runs just to the south of the town and for this reason the southern most house on the Great North Road is named 'Number One Yorkshire'.

I was the RAF Police Counter Intelligence Cpl at RAF Bawtry from December 1977 to May 1979, a new post so know quite a bit. I showed a security guard round the Hall to tell him where things used to be before the current owners bought it and it was, quite frankly a ruin.

I don't know anything about tunnels but I do know the roman road runs though the lake which gives it a figure of 8 shape when it dries out. I used to go in the woods at the back of the AOCs residence, Lakewood, as I used to run rabbit snares in them when I was there.

Will come back here later but please ask any questions you have. I am not far away from you now, just North of Grantham but I am now in a wheelchair so unless you have improved the facilities, I won't be able together far.
