    Default DANDERHALL (Edinburgh) HAA Site

Was this an actual HAA site or decoy?

Looks like the real thing to me. Anyway, wouldn't a decoy not be substantial enough to survive this long? I wish I lived a bit closer, it appears complete, but a little overgrown.

    Some better images on Canmore.

AA Command refers to vacated sites often being given dummy guns and used as decoys. This certainly happened locally (according to locals), the guns were taken from one battery to be sent elsewhere and the guns from the other one replaced them. Dummy guns were said to be left at the vacated site.

Thanks. A 'decoy' I would not expect to be built as a permanent site but of cheap visually attractive materials. Using a permanent but unwanted battery and installing dummy guns makes sense and is probably what defines 'decoy' in this context.
