Default Norfolk holiday - aviation points of interest

    Hello All,

I have a week's holiday booked for the second week in September, based in Bawdeswell Near Dereham. As is my habit, the holiday is an opportunity to visit any notable airfields (active or defunct) and aviation museums in the area. I plan to do a bit of plane-spotting at RAF Marham and Lakenheath. I wonder if the knowledgeable members here can suggest a handful of places of aviation interest please?

    Thanks in anticipation.

    David Harvey.

    Hi David
There is plenty of places to visit in the area, i can give you a few

Thorpe Abbotts 100BG museum near Diss
Norfolk and Suffolk aviation museum at Flixton
Framlington memorial air museum 390th BG
    Neatished air defence radar museum
also there are plenty of memorials around the two counties of Norfolk and Suffolk on the former ww2 airfields

Plenty to see in this neck of the woods David, have a look through the threads on AiX, they should give you a taste of whats around. Ian has listed some excellent places to visit above as well.

I think there's a small museum at Shipdham?

Hello David, you will be right on my doorstep. If you didn't mind I could take some time out and show you around some cracking sites in the area, it would be nice to have some company as most of my trips are alone.

    Thanks Simon
