    Default Silent Witness Memorial Gander

The memorial marks the crash site of a McDonnell Douglas DC-8-63CF carrying members of the 101st Airborne Division, United States Army, from a six-month peace keeping deployment in the Sinai. The flight had refuelled in Gander and came down not far from the airfield, it had been on its way to Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

    All on board were lost.

An especially poignant memorial on a lovely, though tragic, site.
