    Default Hello everyone!

Thought I'd better introduce myself, my name's Richard, I'm 22 and I'm from Washingborough near Lincoln. I'm mad about cars, I currently have two MG ZT's and I'm on 4 owners clubs/forums for those!!! I've had an interest in all things aviation from a very young age, mainly military though. So I joined the CCF (RAF) at school and did all the usual air experience flights and a gliding scholarship at Syerston. One of my A-Level subjects was Archaeology and for the part of the course you had to do your own project, I chose to do a study of RAF Metheringham and if it is possible to reconstruct the layout of the site. Which you can, if you know where to look and what you're looking for If I'm honest I surprised myself as to how much is actually left!
I don't know why, but I enjoy finding out about these old places, what it would have looked like, what units where there and more important to me, what's left there today!

I'm glad it's not just me who thinks like this

    Richard

Hi Richard, Welcome to the past, it's definitely not just you who likes to think like this. I'm still 22 years old...well in my mind anyhow quite a few more years older everywhere else though. Seems like you have done well with your research on Metheringham airfield. You have definitely got the bug !!

At last someone else on here who did an archaeology 'a' level and someone who did their project on an airfield. Welcome Richard, I did my 'A' level in 1983 and I did my project on Suffolk airfield buildings. I can honestly say I have never looked back, it was the best bit of education I had and has set me up for life.

    Welcome to the forum Richard.
If I could move to archaeology I would.

    Welcome to AiX Richard,

    I can't be an archaeologist; I'm a relic!

I hope that you included the Metheringham bomb store in your project
