At last I have found the photo I've been looking for for months ! It's a Nissen hut that came from RAF Honily in about 1961. I had just left school and worked for a farmer at Balsall Common near Coventry. We went with his tractor and four wheel bale trailer to Honily. I would say it was about ten miles. We loaded the frames then the curved sheets and back to the farm. I visited the farmer about five years ago, by then he was 82, and he had erected the hut as a car garage and store. The wooden front and back are original except for the sliding door modification in the front. A small section of the hut , probably a couple of bays, was erected a bit further away but left open ended. (See picture two). It was all dismantled when we collected it so I can't say what part of the airfield it was from or it's function. So, if anyone spots the Nissen hut from the road at Pool House Farm and wondered where it was from, well, now you know !

Simple, durable, iconic. Colonel Nissen got that right!
Thanks for that NJD. Nice little story. I'm always interested in anything Honiley related.
