The first 20 photographs are in the Lawres room of the William Farr school at Welton, that was built partly on the Dunholme airfield. Last five photographs were taken in the reception area.
I have before posted a photograph of this plaque that's in Dunholme church which I took in 1988. Though where it is I don't know. There is a lot of building work going-on inside the church so I just took a quick photograph and left. 02-09-2010.
New memorial for Dunholme Lodge. Sounds like an interesting event.
Very interesting WJT, I would like to attend this dedication but sadly can't get the time off as what few days holiday I have remaining are booked for something else. Are you going along? I see that the day in question is a thursday, the day of my one-time regular Lincolnshire run for 15 years. Typical Look forward to the news of the day. Many thanks.
LL919 Crew memorial from 619 Squadron
We have been contacted by a member of the public who has discovered a plaque to this crew in a "Scrap Yard"!!
Fortunately this kind spirited person has contacted us to find out where it has come from.
The other good news though is the Scrap Yard has so far refused to release this until we are able to find out anything further. So it will not be simply melted down or resold it would seem.
We have all the crew and loss details but would like to know if anyone knows where it has come from and perhaps who organised it?
Then, with a little luck we will be able to have this returned to its proper place.
Aircrew Remembrance Society.
LL919, a Lancaster I, went missing on the Schweinfurt op, 27/4/44.
Coded PG-W from Dunholme Lodge.
Thanks for that, as I said we have these details but really would like to know who commissioned it and where it should live?
There is (or perhaps was) a plaque to LL919 on the memorial at Dunholme Lodge, I will dig out a photo but it won't be until tomorrow now unles someone else beats me to it!
